Last year with a group of students, I traveled to South Africa to learn about the country and connect with the people. The South African Council of Churches brought us to the Langan primary school, Mkhanyiseli, to meet and spend time with some very special children. We played games, sang songs, and took picture after picture of their eager grins and energetic enthusiasm to show us the South African way of life. After returning to the States, we were contacted by Letitia, their teacher, to see if we could assist these delightful youngsters in any way. Next month I am returning to Langa and hope to deliver the priceless gift of education in the form of workbooks, flash cards, and lesson plans. A contribution of $5 will go far in giving them the tools necessary for their future.

Letter from Letitia, a teacher in Langa

Gooday!
I hope this finds you well. Im thinking of you and you students. If you have time will you try to find English lessons for learners, they are struggling and it is their 2nd additional language. 98% of the learners are coming from squatters and parent involvement in their acadmic progress is very poor. Some of them are not getting support at home.
Regards
Letitia

  1. Hi Nikki,
In honor of baby Casey, we would love to send some supplies with you to Langa. His mom has asked for us to perform random acts of kindness in his name. Here is his website:http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/caseykropf/journal.
    Happy travels my love!
    Wendy
